Supervisor Bartlett opened the special meeting at 3:00 pm followed by the roll of members present. The meeting was publicized in the local newspaper.
MOTION #34-2018
WHEREAS, since February 2nd, 2018 a vacancy exist in the Town Justice Court with the resignation of the Court Typist; and
WHEREAS, in order to fill the vacancy the Town Council must appoint an individual to fill the position of Court Typist from a list provided by the Jefferson County Personnel office following a canvas of interested applicants from the Civil Service List; and
WHEREAS, Derrick Lawton, 5 Sophia Street Apt. A, Philadelphia NY, 13673, has requested appointment to the position and following interviews conducted by both Town Justices has a satisfactory recommendation for hiring to fill said vacancy.
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, Derrick Lawton, is hereby appointed to the vacant position of Town of Watertown Justice Court Typist at the hourly pay rate of $13.90 pr/hr; and
WHEREAS, this hire is authorized on a 90 day probationary basis and upon successful completion of the 90 day probation period said employee will be granted full time permanent status qualifying for all benefits provided under the town full time employment policy.
A motion to adopt the foregoing Resolution was made by Supervisor Bartlett and seconded by Councilmember Prosser
