  Bags can be purchased at Town Clerks Office or the Transfer Station
  Large ticket items require $5.00 permits that can be purchased at the landfill.

MAGAZINES AND MIXED PAPER
Glossy magazines, glossy catalogs, colored writing paper, notebook paper, construction paper, computer paper, junk mail, telephone books
Must be clean and dry

CORRUGATED CARDBOARD
Cardboard (only the corrugated type) and brown paper grocery bags
Must be clean and dry
Remove shipping labels, tape and staples
Flatten cartons
Place folded grocery bags in one grocery bags
Ask hauler or municipality about size limits or bundling requirements
DO NOT INCLUDE
  • Food boxes
  • Wax-coated corrugated cardboard
  • Beer or soda carriers
  • Milk or juice catrons
Note: Newspapers, magazines, and mixed paper should not be mixed with this category
PLASTIC BOTTLES
Jugs and bottles only (a bottle has a neck); examples include milk and water jugs, and shampoo, laundry detergent, salad dressing and syrup bottles

Look on bottom of bottles for these symbols:

Remove and discard cap, rinse clean
Flatten bottles to conserve space (flattening is optional)
Labels can stay on
DO NOT INCLUDE
  • Bottles without symbols or with symbols:
  • Plastic wraps
  • Lids or caps
  • "Tubs" (even if they have symbol shown at left): examples include margerine, yogurt, and whipped topping containers
  • Plastic shopping bags -- some stores take them back for recycling
  • Toys
  • Hangers
  • Tableware
  • Plexiglass
TIN AND ALUMINUM
Metal food and beverage cans, clean aluminum foil, aluminum pie plates, metal caps and lids from bottles and jars
Remove labels, rinse clean
Flatten to conserve space; remove both ends to flatten "tin" cans (flattening is optional)
Include removed can ends and cans with rounded bottoms
DO NOT INCLUDE
  • Aerosol cans
  • Silverware
  • Hangers
  • Paint cans
  • Household batteries
  • Scrap metal (contact scrap dealers)
  • Combined paperboard/metal containers: examples include frozen juice concentrate and powered drink mix containers
GLASS
Glass bottles and jars only
Remove and discard caps and lids (metal lids may be included with the tin and alumninum category above
Rinse clean, labels can stay on
Do not break
Ask hauler or municipality if glass must be separated by color (brown, green, clear)

  • Light bulbs
  • Mirrors
  • Eyeglasses
REMEMBER: If an item is not in the "YES" column, it is not being recycled under this program.
